LHL International Visit STEPS Tanzania
LHL International is an organization based in Norway, recently, has visited STEPS Tanzania to learn about how STEPS Tanzania contributes to the National efforts to end TB by the year 2030 by engaging the community of People who use drugs in Tanzania.
STEPS Tanzania is a learning and advocacy organization that
supports marginalized communities in Tanzania, particularly those
affected by substance abuse and other health-related issues.
Among STEPS Tanzania TB community-related work is to conduct TB screening and linking identified clients to Laboratory checks up and those tested positive linked to anti-TB medications., also screening of gender-based violence (gbv), CxCa, linkages for HTS and providing escorted referrals to relevant services, community sensitization on TB/HIV prevention and care, community rights and gender as well as the support to program beneficiaries on income generating activities for improving their incomes.
The LHL international representative was grateful to have conversations with STEPS management and technical staff on experience for rendering equitable services as per their approved strategic plan.
In addition, the LHL-international representative learned about the organization's use of One Impact applications for conducting Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) of their TB interventions. The One Impact applications have proven to an instrumental in facilitating real-time data collection and reporting, which enables STEPS Tanzania to effectively monitor and evaluate the impact of the services that have been provided to community members.
In short, LHL International visit to STEPS Tanzania was a
significant step towards creating a more inclusive and compassionate society in
Tanzania.
